Heavy Duty Water-Based Engine Degreaser
Stinger Chemical Red Wasp HD is a water-based, concentrated degreaser built to strip baked-on grease, oil, and road film off engines, chassis, wheel wells, semis, trailers, and fleet equipment. Water-based matters in a working bay: no solvent fumes to ventilate, no flash point to store around, and a cinnamon scent instead of the headache you get from a petroleum degreaser by hour three.
Being concentrated is the other half of the value. You dilute it to the job rather than buying three different products, running it strong on an engine bay and cut back for general fleet washdown. Work out your ratios with the dilution calculator so you are not burning product on jobs that never needed full strength. This is an exterior and equipment degreaser. For interior surfaces use an interior cleaner instead. See the rest of the cleaners and degreasers to match the product to the mess. Made in the USA.
What Makes it Great:
🔧 Cuts Baked-On Grease: Formulated for the heavy stuff: engine grease, oil film, chassis grime, and the road buildup that accumulates on equipment nobody has washed in a while.
💧 Water-Based, No Solvent Fumes: No petroleum smell, no flash point to work around, and a bay you can actually stand in while the product dwells.
🌬️ Dilute to the Job: Concentrated, so one drum covers full-strength engine work and cut-back fleet washdown instead of stocking two products.
🚛 Built for Equipment: Semis, trailers, machinery, and fleet vehicles, where the grease is older and thicker than anything on a passenger car.
Frequently Asked Questions
Which Stinger degreaser do I actually need?
Match the chemistry to the soil. Red Wasp and Black Scorpion are both alkaline heavy-duty degreasers for grease, oil, and road film, which is the majority of shop and fleet work. Orange Crush is a citrus solvent, and it is the one you want for tar, asphalt, and adhesive, because those dissolve rather than saponify and an alkaline product will slide right over them. If the mess is greasy, use an alkaline degreaser. If it is sticky or tarry, use the solvent.
Can I use it on interior surfaces like the dashboard?
No. This is an exterior and equipment product. A heavy-duty alkaline degreaser is formulated to break down grease, and on interior vinyl, plastic, and leather that same action strips protective finishes, dries the material out, and can cause discoloration you cannot reverse. Use a dedicated interior cleaner for cabin surfaces.
What does water-based mean compared to a solvent degreaser?
Practically, it changes what it is like to work with. Solvent degreasers give off petroleum vapor, which means ventilation, a flash point to consider in storage, and fumes you breathe all day. A water-based product cleans through surfactants and alkalinity instead, so there is no solvent vapor, storage is simpler, and disposal is generally more straightforward. Check your local discharge rules regardless, since any degreaser carries the oil it just removed into your wash water.
Can I let it dwell until it dries?
Never let it dry on the surface. Dwell is how a degreaser works, but as an alkaline product dries it concentrates, and a concentrating alkali on paint, aluminum, or chrome can stain or etch. Keep the surface wet for the whole dwell, re-wet it if you are working in sun or wind, and rinse thoroughly before it has a chance to dry. Work in sections small enough that this is realistic.
Is it safe on polished aluminum trailers and wheels?
Test before you commit, every time. Alkaline degreasers can stain, dull, or streak bare and polished aluminum, and on a polished trailer or aluminum wheel that damage means buffing the panel back rather than rewashing it. Try an inconspicuous spot at your intended dilution, keep the dwell short, and rinse completely. If you are washing a lot of polished aluminum, consider a product specified for it rather than diluting a heavy-duty degreaser down and hoping.
SDS LABEL: If you purchase the SDS Bottle label you need to know that the labels are sold individually for aesthetic bottle labeling in your shop and are also approved by OSHA for professional shop use. They fit most standard 32 ounce bottles and can be ordered here right on the product page.
