Streak-Free Microfiber Glass Towel
Glass is the surface that shows every mistake. A shop rag or a low-grade microfiber pushes cleaner and residue around instead of taking it up, and you end up chasing streaks in the light for longer than the rest of the panel took. This Buff and Shine towel uses a 70/30 polyester-polyamide blend, where that higher polyamide content is what gives it the absorbency to pull water, cleaner, and film into the fabric rather than redistributing it across the pane.
The result is windshields, side glass, and interior mirrors that come up clear in a single pass, with no drips, no water spotting, and no lint left in the corners. It is soft enough for interior mirrors and tinted glass, and it holds up to regular machine washing when you keep it away from fabric softener. Pairs naturally with Orange Reflection gel glass cleaner, which clings instead of running and can be worked in direct sun, and with the Reacher glass kit for the base of a raked windshield where your hand will not reach. What Makes it Great:
👌 70/30 Blend: The higher polyamide ratio is what makes it absorbent and soft rather than just slick, which is the difference between lifting residue and smearing it.
🌟 Clear in One Pass: Built to finish glass the first time instead of sending you back over the same window hunting for the streak you left.
💧 Takes Moisture In: Pulls water, cleaner, and film into the towel body, so there is nothing left on the pane to dry into a spot.
🔄 Machine Washable: Holds up to a shop laundry routine and reuses well, provided it never meets fabric softener or a dryer sheet.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why does my glass still streak even with a microfiber towel?
Usually one of three things. The towel has been contaminated by dressing, wax, or ceramic product and is leaving silicone behind. Too much cleaner was applied and the towel saturated before it could take it all up. Or the glass was hot and in direct sun, so the cleaner flashed off and dried before the towel reached it. Work glass in the shade or with a product built to handle heat, use less cleaner than feels right, and keep glass towels segregated from everything else.
Can I use fabric softener on microfiber towels?
No, and this is the mistake that ruins more microfiber than anything else. Fabric softener and dryer sheets work by coating fibers in a waxy film. On a cotton bath towel that feels nice. On microfiber it plugs the spaces between the fibers that do the actual absorbing, and it transfers that film straight onto whatever you wipe next. A softener-treated glass towel will smear every window it touches, and the damage is not reversible with normal washing.
Should I use one towel or two on glass?
Two is faster and cleaner. Use the first towel damp to break down and lift the soil, then follow immediately with a dry one to buff the surface clear before anything can dry down. Trying to do both jobs with one towel means that by the second window you are wiping with something already saturated with what you just removed.
How should I wash microfiber glass towels?
Wash them separately from cotton, which sheds lint straight into the microfiber. Use a detergent without softeners, brighteners, or bleach. Warm water rather than hot, since high heat damages the fibers over time. Dry on low or hang them, and never with dryer sheets. Wash glass towels in their own load rather than with towels that have handled dressings or compounds.
Can I use this towel for other detailing work?
Better not to. Once a towel has picked up dressing, wax, sealant, or coating residue it will transfer that film to glass every time afterward, no matter how well it gets washed. Keep glass towels in their own color or their own bin and use them for nothing else. It is the cheapest way to avoid the streaking problem entirely.

GSM stands for "grams per square meter," and it's a metric used to measure the weight and density of fabric. In the context of towels, GSM refers to the weight of the fabric in grams per square meter. This measurement gives you a clear indication of how thick and plush a towel is. Essentially, a higher GSM indicates a thicker and more absorbent towel, while a lower GSM suggests a lighter and thinner one.
