What grits are available?

Why do the grits use different abrasives?

Coarse work benefits from ceramic, which self-fractures to stay sharp under pressure, so RUPES uses ceramic through P320. From P360 up, aluminum oxide gives a more controlled, finer scratch, which is what you want as you refine toward finishing.

Can these be used wet?

PROCUT is designed and optimized for dry use with dust extraction. For wet sanding, use a wet-rated abrasive like the RUPES Wet & Dry Finish or WetFinish discs instead.

What does the stearate coating do?

Stearate is a dry lubricant layer that keeps paint, primer, and filler from packing into the abrasive. Less loading means the disc keeps cutting instead of glazing over, and dust extraction works better.

Why film backing instead of paper?

Polyester film is tougher and more dimensionally stable than paper. It resists tearing at the edges and holds a consistent scratch pattern across the disc, which is what keeps sanding marks from showing through the finished paint.
