2-Stage High Performance Vacuum Motor
The C316 is the 115V two-stage peripheral vacuum motor for the Mytee S-300H Tempo and the S-300. Two stages means two fans working in series, and that is what produces 85 inches of water lift against only 6.5 amps of draw. For extraction work that lift figure is the number that matters, because pulling moisture back out of saturated carpet fibers is a pressure problem before it is an airflow problem.
Check your machine's build year before ordering. Tempo Spotters built in 2017 and newer were changed over to the A318 motor, and the C316 is not the correct part for those units. Confirm against your serial plate or the number printed on the motor you are pulling out. If your concern is breaker trips rather than suction, look at the low-amp C302LA instead, which trades some performance for a lighter electrical load. And whichever motor goes in, replace the filters at the same time, since restricted airflow is one of the fastest ways to cook a new one.
What Makes it Great:
🌀 85" Water Lift: Two stages in series build far more suction pressure than a single-stage motor can, which is what actually determines how dry the carpet is when you leave.
💨 97 CFM Airflow: Enough volume to keep the recovery line moving so water and debris travel back to the tank instead of settling in the hose.
âš¡ 6.5 Amps at 115V: Real performance without an unreasonable draw, which matters when the heater is on the same circuit and you are working off a customer's outlet.
🎯 Direct Fit, S-300 and S-300H: Genuine Mytee part for the correct machines, so mounting, gasket seat, and wiring all land where they should.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between water lift and CFM?
Water lift is suction pressure, measured as how many inches of water the motor can pull up a column. CFM is airflow volume, how much air moves through per minute. They are different jobs. Dry vacuuming is mostly a CFM problem because you are carrying debris through the hose. Extraction is mostly a lift problem, because you are pulling water out of carpet fibers that are holding onto it. When you are comparing extractor motors, lift is the number to weigh first.
Will this fit a 2017 or newer Tempo?
No. Mytee changed those units over to the A318 motor, so the C316 is the wrong part for anything built from 2017 forward. Check the serial plate on the machine, or read the part number directly off the motor you are removing, before you order. This is not a part you want to guess on.
Should I get the C316 or the low-amp C302LA?
Depends on what is limiting you. Take the C316 if you want maximum extraction and your power situation can handle it. Take the low-amp version if you keep tripping breakers, especially when running heat and vacuum together off a single household circuit in a residential or mobile setting. More lift is worthless if the machine cannot stay running.
Why do vacuum motors fail?
Three main ways. Carbon brushes wear down, which is normal consumption and gives you gradually weakening suction. Water gets into the motor, which is sudden and usually fatal, and it happens when a recovery tank overfills or a float shutoff stops working. And heat, from running with clogged filters or a restricted hose, which cooks the windings over time.
My old motor died from water. What do I check before installing this one?
The float shutoff, first and without exception. That mechanism is the only thing standing between your recovery tank and the motor, and if it failed once it will fail again on the new motor. Verify the float moves freely and seats properly, check the filters, and make sure nothing in the recovery path is restricted. Installing a replacement motor without finding out why the last one drowned is how people buy the same part twice.
