Every Drive Mode in One Kit
*THIS ITEM IS A PREORDER ONLY ETA ON SHIPPING IS MID NOVEMBER The FLEX PXCE 18-EC is the first cordless polisher to put rotary, free-running orbital, and gear-driven forced rotation in a single machine, and this kit ships with all of them. Those three actions are normally three separate tools: a rotary for heavy cutting and sanding, an orbital for safe finishing, and a gear-driven machine for correction on curves where a free-spinning pad stalls out. A tool-free quick-change system swaps between them, so one body carries you from sanding through correction to a hologram-free finish.
Nothing is left as an upsell. The kit includes the rotary attachment, the gear-driven head, and orbital attachments in 3 mm, 6 mm, and 12 mm strokes, plus 1", 2", and 3" hook-and-loop backing plates. Two 2.5 Ah 24 V batteries and a charger come in the box. Stroke and pad size together mean you can run a 1" pad on a 3 mm stroke to chase a single defect, then move to a 3" pad on a 12 mm stroke to work a panel, without touching another tool. Speed is set from a touch panel that works through gloves and locks against accidental input, and a three-stage LED adjustable from 2,500 K to 6,500 K lets you read the surface while the pad is still on it. Every drive adapter from the PXE 80 12-EC also fits this machine. See the rest of our dual action polishers and rotary polishers.
What Makes it Great:
🔄 Four Drive Attachments Included: Rotary, gear-driven forced rotation, and orbital in 3, 6, and 12 mm strokes. The full correction sequence from one machine with nothing left to buy.
📏 Three Backing Plates: 1", 2", and 3" hook-and-loop, so pad size matches the defect instead of the other way around.
💡 Inspection Light On Board: Three-stage LED adjustable from 2,500 K to 6,500 K. Warm light finds swirls, daylight judges gloss, and you are not setting the tool down to pick up a light.
🔋 Two Batteries and a Charger: A 2.5 Ah pack on the tool and one on the charger means the machine keeps running through a correction instead of waiting on a charge.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is forced rotation, and why does the gear-driven head matter?
It solves a problem most people do not know they have. In free-running orbital mode the pad oscillates and is free to spin or not, which makes it safe but also means it stalls under pressure or on a curve, and a stalled pad stops cutting. The gear-driven head mechanically drives the pad's rotation so it keeps turning regardless of pressure or panel shape. You get cut approaching a rotary with the surface safety of an orbital action, which is what you want on body lines, bumper curves, and any angle where a dual action quietly quits without telling you.
Which attachment should I use for what?
Rotary for the heaviest cutting and for sanding, accepting that it can leave holograms you refine out afterward. Gear-driven for correction where you need real cut but the surface is curved. Orbital for finishing and final polishing where safety matters more than speed. On stroke: 3 mm keeps the pad tightly controlled for single defects, sanding marks, and tight areas; 12 mm covers far more surface per pass for panel work; 6 mm sits between them. Match the stroke to the size of what you are correcting and the job goes quickly.
Will my PXE 80 batteries and adapters work on it?
Adapters yes, batteries no. Every drive adapter from the PXE 80 12-EC fits the PXCE, which protects what you have already put into that system. The batteries do not carry over, since the PXE 80 is a 12 V tool and this runs on the higher-voltage FLEX cordless platform. Two batteries and a charger come in this kit, so that is covered out of the box.
Can I use it for sanding?
Yes, and FLEX positions sanding as one of its core applications, particularly in rotary mode and on the shorter 3 mm stroke where the pad stays tightly controlled. Abrasive discs mount to a backing plate the same way polishing pads do. Worth knowing that sanding and polishing want different plate characteristics: a polishing plate has give so foam can conform to a curve, while a firmer sanding plate keeps the abrasive flat so it cuts evenly rather than rounding an edge. If you plan to sand regularly, ask about a sanding-specific plate for this machine rather than running discs on a soft polishing plate.
Why does the light have adjustable color temperature?
Because different defects appear under different light. Warm light near 2,500 K reveals surface irregularities and swirls that cooler light washes out, while daylight-range light near 6,500 K is better for judging gloss, clarity, and leftover haze. Detailers normally carry separate inspection lights to check paint under more than one temperature. Having the range on the machine means you assess the panel without stopping.
